Former White House Physician Calls for Biden to Undergo Cognitive Testing

U.S. Rep. Dr. Ronny Jackson, White House physician to President Donald Trump, is calling on President Joe Biden to undergo immediate cognitive testing.

Jackson cites the commander-in-chief’s performance at the recent G7 summit, calling it “embarrassing.”

“We can’t sit on this any longer. He’s not physically or cognitively fit to be our president right now,” Jackson said.

He urged the president to undergo testing to show the American people that he has sound mental capabilities and publicly release the results.

The freshman congressman from Texas and 13 other Republican colleagues sent a joint letter to President Biden in which they expressed concern for his cognitive capabilities.

In the letter, they cited specific examples, including him telling an Amtrak story with an incorrect timeline, forgetting the name of his Secretary of Defense, and drawing a blank on a quote from the Declaration of Independence.

Jackson was the White House physician during both Trump and Barack Obama’s terms and gave Trump a glowing, clean bill of health, both physically and cognitively.

Jackson wants Biden to take the same cognitive tests given to Trump amid nagging questions about Trump’s mental fitness to serve as president. At the time, Jackson said that Trump was “mentally very sharp.”

“We believe that, regardless of gender, age, or political party, all presidents should follow the precedent set by former President Trump to document and demonstrate sound mental abilities,” Jackson and his fellow GOP colleagues wrote.

Trump made Biden’s mental fitness a considerable part of his campaign. At 78, Biden is the oldest sitting president in American history.

Biden has bristled in the past when questioned about his mental capacity.

According to the Associated Press, Biden’s physician released a medical report on his health stating he was “fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency” and describes him as “healthy and vigorous.”

According to several sources, including NBC News, the report made no mention of any “mental deficiencies,” although it did not mention whether his cognitive abilities were tested.

Jackson and his colleagues sent the letter to Biden, Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, and chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci. Biden is scheduled to have a physical later in the year. The White House has pledged to release results to the public.

“The American people deserve to have absolute confidence in their president. They deserve to know that he or she can perform the duties demanded of the office, and they deserve to have full transparency on the mental state of their highest elected leader,” Jackson said.
